Althea thanks all her supporters

Dear Friends:

Thank you so much for your support, encouragement and vote on November 7th.  It will be an honor to work for you for another four years.

With your help, support and voice, we can bring back ethical and respectful leadership to the city council.  Now that the election is past us, you must not remain silent or believe your voice will not be heard.

An editorial in the Milpitas Post prior to the election said “If you don’t vote Tuesday to change the direction of this city, no one else will be to blame.”  I believe if you don’t continue to stay actively engaged and support ethical, open government and the values and visions of Mayor Esteves and me, nothing will change for another 2 years.

Please stay involved, please stay an active participant in city government and demand all of us on the council be accountable for our behavior and actions.  You will make a difference.

Thank you again for your support and confidence.  I will continue to work for you and a better Milpitas.

     Respectfully,

Here is the original welcome to the website:

Welcome to the official website for Althea Polanski's re-election campaign. Here is a message from Althea:

Dear Milpitas Residents:

Milpitas is often referred to as the “Crossroads of Silicon Valley”, however, I believe Milpitas city government is at a crossroads.  If we do not find a way to restore ethical, professional, respected leadership at city hall, we will not move forward.  Milpitas has always been a great place to live and raise our families.  Our quality of life must not be diminished by unethical behavior and a pretense to open government.

My candidacy for re-election to the Milpitas City Council is based on my strong belief in the great diversity of our community and their desire for ethical, respectful, responsible leadership.

We will make a difference by working together to bring respectful, ethical behavior back to city government.  The ethics program so many of us worked so hard to establish has been eliminated.  An Open Government Ordinance was eliminated and replaced by one that is overseen by a subcommittee of the city council majority, not the people.

The city budget was balanced by using interest money from our Redevelopment Agency and not filling vacancies from city personnel who retired or left the city but the tough decisions we need to make for the future of our city were not made.  It is projected the city will continue to face a $4.5 million dollar deficit yearly for the next few years.  We need a council majority willing to make the decisions to balance our budget and not cater to special interest groups and developers.

Your vote, support and endorsement of my candidacy for re-election to the Milpitas City Council will be important for the future of our great city.

All the best,

Althea Polanski
